NHS launches its seasonal COVID-19 vaccination programme this month

COVID-19 spreads very easily and it can cause serious illness in some individuals, particularly older people and those with a weakened immune system. A full course of a COVID-19 vaccine provides good protection and helps reduce the spread of this virus.
Anyone eligible who has not received any previous doses should get vaccinated during this year’s spring offer to get protection against severe disease.
Am I eligible?
People who are eligible and that are advised to have the vaccination this spring are:
- 75 and over
- a resident in a care home for older adults
- or 6 months and older and have a condition that means you are immunosuppressed (not sure if this is you - see tables 3 and 4 of the Greenbook chapter 14a).
For this group it is recommended that you have two vaccinations a year – one every six months for the best protection.
How can I book?
If you are eligible, you will receive a text, email, NHS App message or letter from the NHS. However, you do not have to wait for an invitation to book your vaccine. You can book a vaccine online using the national booking system (NBS) which opened Tuesday 25 March 2025.
If you are eligible, you can:
- Download the NHS App and make an appointment
- Visit www.nhs.uk/get-vaccine
- Call 119 for free if you can’t get online (translators are available)
Walk-in clinics
Alternatively, some walk-in sites will be open across North West London from 1 April 2025. Walk-in clinics do not require individuals to be registered with the NHS or to bring any identification documents.
No appointment is required to use the walk-in service but you are advised to contact the vaccination site in advance to confirm their opening times.
Please also note that not all sites offer vaccination to children. This is subject to site meeting assurance requirements, so please contact the site in advance of visit if children vaccination is required.
Some vaccination sites also do not offer vaccination to general member of the public (booked or walk-in service). These sites are identified in the borough maps with a red box around the site name.
