International Volunteer Day 2024

International Volunteers Day is observed globally on 5 December each year. It’s an opportunity to celebrate and applaud the selfless contributions of volunteers worldwide.

The theme for this year’s International Volunteer Day is to focus on the role that volunteers play to achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The SDGs are 17 goals that were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity.

Despite the challenges we face – from climate change to social injustices – volunteers dedicate their time and effort to respond to the needs of their communities. They rise to meet challenges with courage, dedication, and selflessness.

Volunteering with Healthwatch Kensington and Chelsea

At Healthwatch Kensington and Chelsea, we’re lucky to have 8 outstanding volunteers who dedicate time each month to make care better for our community.

Thanks to the efforts of our amazing volunteers, we’ve been able to have a deeper understanding of what’s working and areas that need improvement.

Our volunteers support us by:

  • Visiting communities to promote their local Healthwatch and what we have to offer
  • Collecting experiences and supported their communities to share their views
  • Carrying out Enter and View visits to local services to help them improve
