CNWL Acute Mental Health Consultation Events
Throughout November, Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL) will be running a series of public consultation events in Kensington & Chelsea, focusing on acute mental health services. These events are opportunities to find out more about current available services and give feedback on proposed changes – they will help ensure CNWL can provide the best possible care and support for residents with serious mental health needs in Kensington & Chelsea.
During these sessions, local residents will have the opportunity to share their views on the proposed changes to acute mental health services in Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea.
CNWL is particularly interested in hearing residents’ views on the following two proposals:
- To expand the mental health crisis assessment (MHCAS) service (currently at St Charles Mental Hospital, in North Kensington) and move it to the Gordon Hospital, South Westminster.
- To supplement the inpatient beds at St Charles by partially re-opening inpatient services at the Gordon Hospital. This will entail opening the MHCAS at the Gordon Hospital with room for 12 patients, (including space for 4 patients to be admitted overnight), alongside a full range of other community-based services.
The findings of our recently published report on the impact of the closure of the Gordon Hospital in-patient services will also supplement and feed into the consultations. Our report provides an overview of the diverse perspectives and experiences of the residents, community organisations, and mental health professionals we have heard from.
